Regarding the
2026 George Washington Birthday Parade!
Please note that Parade Day has moved from its traditional "Presidents Day" Monday schedule. The parade is now scheduled for the Saturday of Presidents Day weekend, February 14, 2026. The parade Steps Off at 2PM. However, groups are required to be in their Assembly Area by 1PM, one hour before the parade begins.
NEW: Our Assembly Area location is on Gibbon Street, between S. Royal Street and S. Fairfax Street. (Division 1, Unit 1)

In the unlikely event that the parade organizers cancel the event for safety reasons (not for rain or light snow), they will post a cancellation notice on their website at washingtonbirthday.com.
We are very pleased to report now though that the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps has agreed to lead our SAR group in the parade again this year!

The 2026 parade theme is George Washington: Virginia’s Son ~ America’s Founding Father.
Additionally, the George Washington Chapter's own John C. Evans Medal will be awarded to first-time SAR participants.
Make plans to be a part of this exceptional opportunity to display your patriotism. Wear your navy-blue blazer, khaki trousers, and necktie or bow tie. (SAR ties and SAR hats make handsome accessories, especially on parade day!) Or turn out in your colonial-era attire along with your friends and family in colonial attire!

Get a head start on parking!!! Plan to arrive early and attend the 12:00-12:30PM wreath laying event at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House. (OPMH) Then assemble for the parade just a few blocks away immediately afterward.
